Her Story
Multiple award-winning actress and singer Lea Salonga is renowned worldwide for her powerful voice and perfect pitch. This fall, she will star in and lead the soundtrack of the DreamWorks animated feature Forgotten Island.
Lea is best known for her groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning performance as Kim in Miss Saigon, for which she also received the Olivier, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Theatre World Awards. She made history as the first Asian woman to win a Tony Award and later became the first Asian actress to play Éponine in Les Misérables on Broadway, returning to the beloved musical as Fantine in its 2006 revival.
Most recently, Lea starred on Broadway in Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends, following acclaimed runs in Los Angeles and London. She also appeared in the Tony Award-winning 2018 Broadway revival of Once on This Island as Erzulie, the Goddess of Love; Lea and the cast received a Grammy nomination for Best Musical Theater Album. Her other Broadway credits include Here Lies Love, Allegiance and Flower Drum Song.
Generations of fans know Lea as the singing voice of two iconic Disney heroines: Princess Jasmine in Aladdin and Fa Mulan in Mulan and Mulan II. In recognition of her contributions to the company’s legacy, The Walt Disney Company named her a Disney Legend.
On screen, Lea starred in Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin and the critically acclaimed Sony musical drama Yellow Rose. She can also be heard in Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters and Centaurworld, as well as FX’s Little Demon. Her solo concert special, Lea Salonga: Live with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra from Sydney Opera House, aired as part of Great Performances on PBS, with a live album subsequently released by Broadway Records.
Lea’s 2025–2026 Stage, Screen and Everything In Between tour and her 2022 Dream Again tour drew sold-out audiences across North America, the United Kingdom, Asia and the Middle East. Throughout her career, she has performed at many of the world’s most celebrated venues, including the Sydney Opera House, The O2, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Singapore’s Esplanade, Hong Kong Cultural Centre and Carnegie Hall.
Beyond the stage and screen, Lea served as a coach on the hit Philippine editions of The Voice and The Voice Kids. She has released multiple solo albums, toured internationally with pop-opera quartet Il Divo and earned acclaim for her cabaret performances, including a record-setting run at New York’s 54 Below. Her latest album, Sounding Joy | The Holiday Album, was released by Center Stage Records.
In her 45-year career, Lea has performed for six Philippine presidents (from Ferdinand Marcos to Benigno S. Aquino III), four American Presidents (Joe Biden, George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush), and for Diana, Princess of Wales and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. She was honored by Time Magazine as a Time100 Impact Award Recipient, received the Gold House Gold Legend Award and, in 2026, was recognized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
